things to make me go WOOOOOO

Day out to Heaton Park with a top bud, where we saw mystical creatures straight out of 'Where the Wild Things Are' and Mark Ryden's Snow Yak paintings. Climbing trees and then lounging in them. Crabbies alcoholic ginger beer. Hunx and the Punkettes! Partying like it was 1999. I Wonder what ideas i'll get from all that 'research' - joy!!!

things to make me go grrrr

'Afromodern' is the official best ever exhibition i have seen, currently running at Liverpool Tate for another week, featuring work by two of my Favourite artists, Kara Walker and Ellen Gallagher.

To coincide with the show, Ellen Gallagher was partaking in an artist's talk, which excited me a great deal i can tell you! HOWEVER when i turned up on the day, i was informed that the limited tickets had sold out and i wasn't going to get to see one of my idols, sigh. This upset me for number of reasons. Firstly the tickets being £8 each, secondly them being of limited availability. I find that by charging that price, it immediately excluded a section of the potential audience who would have greatly benefited hearing from such an inspirational figure, and that by restricting the numbers in such a way, fans were unnecessarily denied access, whilst reinforcing the notion of an exclusive art club. Instead of aiming at an audience of young aspiring artists, it sadly made my presence feel unwanted there.

After missing a ONCE IN A LIFETIME chance to see an idol, i comforted myself with a constellation prize of going for a ride on the carousel in Liverpool town centre. This plan was also foiled, the carousel had already CLOSED. hoping that my buddy could cheer me up we went for drinks. Feelin peckish we fancied some noodles. they were sold out. this wasn't too bad until we fancied cider, this was sold out, beer, sold out, white wine SOLD OUT. my friend finally managed to choose a tipple still available, only to be greeted by a little fly who had already beaten him to it, swimming in his glass. To top that day off i missed my last train home, which was at 11 o'clock, don't even get me started on how lame public transport is.
TISK.
